You've seen the posts: people with half your skill are succeeding because they didn't overthink it. That’s the truth. My primary trait, impatience (yup, guilty), is my most effective business strategy. When I'm inspired, I act quickly because I know momentum is a finite resource that I can't afford to waste (hello, strategic ROI).
Go! Go! Go!
Momentum Capture = ROI
Perfectionism is Just Delayed Action
The most impactful things you can do for your career are often free. The only price is not waiting. When you wait, momentum dies.
The Rebrand = Get the Pinterest board ready, then add the service to the website. It exists now.
The Pitch = My friend is delaying reaching out to brands because of a low follower count. This is a distraction. Creativity and vision outweigh vanity metrics (followers) every single time. Push through that self-imposed obstacle (take me for example, I have a really low follower count).
If you’re waiting to submit writing, launch a project, or master a skill, you’re just placing unnecessary barriers in your own path. You will never be fully ready. There will never be a perfect time. The successful entrepreneurs I've known all share this pattern: they get things done. Boo to paralyzing perfectionism! They figure it out as they go. And you will too.
Don’t let a lack of action be the only thing separating you from the life you want. If you can take a small, tangible step today, make it exist first, you can make it good later.
Done is better than perfect, remember?
Taking Action: The First Step
Taking action can feel daunting. It’s easy to get stuck in the planning phase. But here’s the kicker: the first step doesn’t have to be monumental. It can be as simple as jotting down ideas or sketching out a rough draft.
Embrace the Messiness
Let’s be real. The journey is messy. You’ll stumble, trip, and maybe even fall flat on your face. But that’s part of the process. Embrace the messiness. It’s where the magic happens. Each misstep teaches you something valuable.
Celebrate Small Wins
Every small win counts. Did you send that email? Celebrate it! Did you finish that chapter? Great! These little victories build momentum. They keep you moving forward.
The Importance of Mindset
Your mindset plays a crucial role in your ability to take action. If you’re constantly doubting yourself, it’s time to shift that perspective.
Cultivating a Growth Mindset
Adopt a growth mindset. This means viewing challenges as opportunities to learn rather than obstacles. When you embrace this mindset, you’ll find it easier to take risks and step outside your comfort zone.
Surround Yourself with Positivity
Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Their energy can be contagious. Seek out mentors, friends, or even online communities that uplift you.
Conclusion: Just Start
In the end, the most important thing is to start. Don’t let fear hold you back. Remember, the phrase "done is better than perfect" is your mantra.
So, what are you waiting for? Take that first step today. You’ve got this!
