Marketing, But Make It Make Sense
I see a lot of people chasing the shiny new tech or the latest social media trick. Every day Reddit has those posts: The 5 best hacks to win... bla bla bla. But if you want to be a strong marketer, you have to start with the fundamentals that don't change: understanding people and communicating value clearly.
That's the foundation. Layered on top of that, there are a few key areas where the truly effective marketers will really stand out right now.
If You Don’t Talk to Customers, You’re Guessing
This is non-negotiable. Talking to customers directly is, and always will be, the most reliable way to uncover real pain points. That means doing interviews, running surveys, reading support tickets, or digging into social media conversations.
The strongest marketers actively use those insights to shape compelling positioning. They build resonant messaging and craft a storyline that genuinely connects with the audience. This ability separates a good marketer from someone who is just following a generic playbook.
The Story is All You Have
Strong writing, clear video communication, and vivid visual storytelling will only keep rising in value. Content that teaches or entertains is the best way to build trust and authority. I'm talking about short-form video, podcasts, and long-form educational content. If you can take what you learn from those direct customer conversations and turn it into something people actually want to consume, you’re set.
Own The Channels. Conquer The Feed.
Producing content is honestly only half the game. It might even be less than half, to be frank.
Knowing where your audience spends time and how to get your message in front of them efficiently matters more than ever. This applies to both organic and paid efforts. You need to master your owned channels, like email and SEO. You also have to understand the algorithms on platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging short-form networks. Distribution is the secret weapon.
Keep Ya Cool. No Panic Posting.
You do not need to be a data scientist. But you absolutely should know how to pull and interpret insights from tools like Google Search Console, GA4, or whatever other platform you use.
The best marketers are active. They know how to form hypotheses, run small experiments quickly, and iterate based on what the numbers tell them. You can't improve what you don't measure.
If you can communicate with clarity and tell stories that move people, then you're already half way there

. Keep going.
